Young teens who play sports on a team are happier and feel healthier then their peers, according to Dr. Keith Zullig and others of West Virginia University. His findings suggest the participation helps the students by enhancing "school connectedness, social support and bonding among friends and teammates."
Not only are the students happier, they also feel better. Boys that don't play on a team are 500% more likely to feel fair or poor then team members. Girls? A staggering 3,000%. That's thirty fold.
OK, you got us.
In girls the effects go one step further. Just the vigorous activity associated with the sport led to significant increases in happiness.
